Mao

Mao is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by TAKAHASHI Rumiko. It began serialization in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday on May 8, 2019, and continues as one of Rumiko Takahashi's major modern works.

The story follows Nanoka Kiba, a middle school girl who survives a near-fatal accident and later discovers she can see yokai and cursed energies. Her search leads her to Mao, an onmyoji from the Taisho era who investigates curse-related incidents and the mysterious cat demon Byoki. As Mao manga chapters progress, Nanoka and Mao uncover linked tragedies across past and present while facing exorcists, cursed blades, and shifting alliances.
